NACEP Virtual Workshop - Strengthening the Dual Enrollment Teacher Pipeline: Building the Institutional, State, and National Agenda

Access to a more robust, diverse, and inclusive pool of qualified instructors is essential to driving more equitable access to and engagement in college courses for high school students. This workshop explores the problems and potential solutions for improving the concurrent enrollment teacher pipeline to improve equity outcomes for students.

During the 2021 summer the Midwestern Higher Education Compact, the College in High School Alliance, and NACEP led a series of working group sessions to unpack the complex challenges and opportunities inherent in the work to expand the pool of instructors qualified to teach concurrent enrollment. The sessions uncovered several approaches used by states and institutions ranging from pragmatic reconfigurations of graduate programs to deep systemic changes to educator preparation and teacher professional development.

CHSA will soon release a new national resource, authored by dual enrollment policy expert Jennifer Zinth, on the current state of the dual enrollment teacher pipeline, its challenges, and a set of possible action steps for institutions, states, and national advocates on where the discussion about this issue should go from here.
