NACEP Doubles Down on Members

Through a Dual Hire

Welcome, Andrea Roma and Sarah Brown to the NACEP Team!

Andrea Roma and Sarah Brown are the latest talented individuals to join the NACEP team. Andrea will be the new Member Services Coordinator and will evaluate, update, and develop resources and activities to improve member experiences and services to our members. Sarah is our new Strategic Projects Coordinator and will be instrumental in executing projects to support, advance, and connect NACEP’s members and our community.NACEP exists to serve, support, lead, and elevate the field. Our members and the broader dual and concurrent enrollment community, are at the absolute center of our work. This is why we are thrilled to add two new positions focused specifically on member support and strategic engagement,” stated NACEP Executive Director, Amy Williams.

Andrea Roma started her journey with NACEP in the spring of 2018 and has continued to grow her involvement since through conferences, workshops, webinars, and as a three-time accreditation peer reviewer. Andrea has worked in higher education for the past 13 years with SUNY Broome Community College in a number of capacities. As a department of one for the past four years, Andrea built systems and structures to stretch her reach and expand her capacity to better serve students and teachers in Broome’s Fast Forward, Early College, and P-TECH programs. Her work with Broome-Tioga BOCES & Anthony Henninger High School (Syracuse, NY) P-TECH programs landed her the distinction of P-TECH Outstanding Higher Education Partner for 2020. She brings a bevy of other experiences and skillsets to her new role with NACEP ranging from admissions to work with the Broome Community College Foundation. We love her passion for all things NACEP and her laser focus on engaging and supporting our members.

NACEP members and community can look forward to Andrea improving the member experience, increasing the functionality of our member outreach, and improving the way we support and serve through the creation and curation of resources to better address the varied needs of the dual and concurrent enrollment community. Andrea has a passion for building genuine relationships, whether that is faculty, high school partners, community members, colleagues across the country, students and parents, or NACEP members. “I am over the moon and can’t wait to work with members to improve their experience, create better access to resources, and aid in their engagement with NACEP so that they gain the same support, encouragement, and validation from this organization that I enjoyed as a member. ”

Sarah Brown is also no stranger to the NACEP community. In February of 2022, she shared a fresh perspective on improving student access and success on a Wednesday Webinar: “Leveraging Cultural Competency in Dual Enrollment Program Planning.” Sarah is a fervent advocate for education and her work is deeply rooted in the transformative role education serves in improving lives and communities. Since her first professional job working in higher education, Sarah realized her purpose in addressing and eliminating barriers to education access for students in Appalachia. Her passion and interest for institutional accreditation & compliance, strategic planning, and policy implementation has been cultivated through her experience in many sectors of education, including K-12, higher education, and non-profit work. Sarah is joining NACEP from Marshall University, where she was the Program Manager of Dual Enrollment. Currently, she is completing her Ph.D. from Purdue University, where her dissertation research focuses on cultural competency, population ecology and strategic planning in higher education.

As the new Strategic Projects Coordinator, Sarah will improve and enhance resources for our members and the community by developing digital offerings and virtual workshops, organizing and running various roundtable discussions, leading new publication development and she will be key in keeping a pulse on the field of what our members need. Sarah is “eager to help NACEP pursue its vision and mission to equitably expand education access.”

Roma and Brown will start in June.
