SUMMARY:NACEP Webinar: Engagement Series-Increasing Participation and Membership
DESCRIPTION:NACEP is pleased to offer a unique professional development opportunity through our Network Engagement Series.  This series of three webinars is designed to help you grow\, strengthen\, and empower the networks and partnerships vital to your work. The University of Kansas’ Christina Holt will lead three topical sessions focused on different aspects of network engagement critical to your work. Each session will highlight resources from the Community Toolbox  an extensive library of community-building resources focused on growing sustainability and impact through partnership.  \nEach webinar will cover a topic related to network engagement. \nIncreasing Participation and Membership\nIncreasing participation and membership across sectors and constituent groups is one of the fundamental abilities that help to build community context and collaborative planning. Continuously working to expand membership to ensure a diverse and engaged group of participants grounds the work in what is locally important and feasible. \nIn this module\, we will address four primary issues in increasing membership and participation: outreach\, recruitment\, engagement in the effort\, and maintaining involvement and sustaining commitment over time. \nLearning objectives: \nLearn how to intentionally involve others in the work\, and engage them in ways that keep them involved over time\nIdentify key principles in outreach and recruitment that can contribute to the group’s effort\nLearn how to build relationships and motivate participants to engage in the work\nUnderstand how to create an atmosphere and conditions that promote diversity\, participation and success\nLearn steps in assessing whether current involvement is sufficient and/or how to make changes in the participation plan \n  \n View Recording

SUMMARY:NACEP Webbyte: Earnings after an accelerated degree\, new insights from UT System Research
DESCRIPTION:Concurrent enrollment/dual credit research has established that concurrent enrollment increases the likelihood students will attend college and succeed once they get there. However\, there has been limited research on post-collegiate earnings outcomes associated with dual credit students – until now. This webinar will examine the impact dual enrollment has on students’ earnings and labor market outcomes. We will discuss the use of administrative data from the University of Texas System\, as well as the unemployment insurance wage records from the Texas Workforce Commission to help postsecondary education professionals understand better what the earning outcomes may be for dual credit students by showing first- and fifth-year earnings outcomes and the types of industries in which the graduates are working. We hope you will join us.\nPresenter\nDavid Troutman\, Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Research and Advanced Analytics\, The University of Texas System \n View Recording

SUMMARY:NACEP Webinar: Crossing the Finish Line
DESCRIPTION:The general education courses of the Interstate Passport has gained a lot of momentum at community colleges across the nation.  Our college used this a kick start to help local high schools in offering a program of study to students who may not know where they are going after high school.  Laramie County Community College found that 74% of concurrent or dual enrollment students went on to college. This opportunity allowed us to train students with skills to be successful in following their college-bound aspirations or to further their career goals after high school.  The college and school district crossed hurdles of teacher approval\, curriculum\, and funding.  Participants of this webinar will cross the finish line with knowledge about how to provide equal access to all students. We hope you will join us.\n  \n View Recording

SUMMARY:NACEP Webinar – Hope for the Future: Motivating Students to Pursue their Dreams
DESCRIPTION:Guiding students to pursue their passions is a strong motivator to help them stay in school. Youth is faced with many challenges that impact their social/emotional health. By attending to students’ dimensions of motivation (competence\, control/autonomy\, interest/value\, and relatedness) school personnel have the potential to keep students engaged in school as they connect to their dreams. A college and career program that is attentive to students’ social/emotional development is a medium by which students can be inspired to pursue their dreams. Participants will walk away with strategies to keep students connected to their passions in their collegiate pursuit. Please join us as Dr. Tina Polishchuk talks about this important topic.

SUMMARY:NACEP-CHSA-ACT Webinar: Where Next for the Dual Enrollment Pell Grant Experimental Sites? (Public)
DESCRIPTION:The National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships is teaming up with ACT and the College in the High School Alliance to bring you an informative\, public webinar. In 2016\, the U.S. Department of Education established an initiative that allows certain postsecondary institutions to award Pell Grants to low-income high school students participating in a dual and concurrent enrollment program.\nThis federal initiative is still running\, but now states are starting to explore how to use their own state-based financial aid programs to accomplish the same goal. This webinar will discuss how these two activities can operate in harmony to benefit students\, and where federal discussions around expanding access to financial aid to high school students are headed next. We hope you will join us. \n View Recording \n

SUMMARY:NACEP Webinar: Straddling the Fence: How to engage high school students in dual worlds
DESCRIPTION:Dual and concurrent-enrolled high school students straddle the “educational” fence of two worlds: High school and college. How do we engage high school students and meet their needs in both worlds? Engagement is more than getting a student to show up for class. Instead\, high schools and colleges need to meet these students where they are and engage with them intellectually\, emotionally\, behaviorally\, socially and culturally. This webinar will cover strategies for how to engage dual and concurrent-enrolled students\, where they are\, in order to help them get to where they want to go. We hope you will be able to join us! \n View Recording
