SUMMARY:Department Structures. How to Structure Concurrent Enrollment Departments to Support the Student Journey (Public Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Date: May 17; 1:00 pm EST \nPresenters: \n\nRaymond Chard- Interim Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs/Director of High School Programs\, Aims Community College;\nSarah Stashkiw – Director\, P-20 Educational Partnerships\, College of Lake County\n\nDescription: State to state\, college to college\, each concurrent enrollment program looks a little different. During this webinar\, you will hear from 2 concurrent enrollment programs in 2 different states on how they have structured their teams to support students through their concurrent enrollment journey. You will learn how they leverage other departments across their college and have advocated for increasing the number of staff supporting concurrent enrollment students. As we walk through the student’s journey in concurrent enrollment from application to graduation\, you will learn more about how two colleges have organized their concurrent enrollment offices\, what positions are on their staff\, and the strategic partnerships they have created. \n \n \n Learn More

SUMMARY:The Uvalde Effect: Improving High School and College Collaboration on Campus Safety in the Dual Credit Space
DESCRIPTION:Date: June 28; 1:00 pm EST \nPresenter: \n\nDr. Mike D. Garcia\, Executive Director of Regulatory Affairs at Austin Community College.\nMison Zuniga\, Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for College and High School Relations at Austin Community College.\nRobert Block\, ECHS Principal and Director of College\, Career\, and Military Readiness Elgin Independent School District.\n\nWebinar Type: Public \nDescription: \nThis webinar will offer a panel of experts to share how the 2022 tragedy in Uvalde\, Texas\, spurred greater cross-institutional collaboration between Austin Community College and its high school partners to improve services for dual credit students in the case of emergencies. The discussion will highlight increased statewide expectations for high school campus safety that affected processes for dual credit instructors during the 2022-23 school year. It will also provide examples of some emergency situations that have affected ACC dual credit students and which have highlighted areas of improvement for communication and coordination with high school partners. Panel participants from both college and high school administrations will share their expertise\, experience\, and advice for those wishing to begin difficult conversations about emergency preparedness across K-12 and higher ed lines. \nThat audience members will be inspired to improve preventative planning and collaboration with their partners around emergency management issues in the dual credit space. \nIt shows ways in which colleges and high schools can collaborate to better serve dual-enrolled students in areas that might not be addressed in traditional academic planning\, such as dual management and communication during emergency situations. \n \n \n View Recording

SUMMARY:Can You Meet Me Halfway? Implementing a Successful Process for Mid-Semester Advising at Your Institution
DESCRIPTION:In 2017\, in an effort to increase course completion and persistence\, Austin Community College’s High School Programs office implemented a mid-semester advising process for students in its dual credit programs. Over the years\, this process has achieved many successes and faced many challenges\, both of which have led to the development of the program into what it is today. In this presentation\, participants will learn about Austin Community College and their current process\, including overarching challenges and successes faced in both implementation and execution. Additionally\, participants will hear from four different advisors with distinctive caseloads that each present more unique challenges and allow for tailored approaches to address these challenges. \n \n Watch Now

SUMMARY:DEEP Partnerships: How K12 and College Leaders in one Texas Community are Implementing a Shared Vision to Broaden the Benefits of Dual Enrollment
DESCRIPTION:Over the past decade\, leaders at Lee College and Goose Creek ISD in Baytown\, Texas have developed a strong dual enrollment partnership with nearly a third of high school graduates taking dual credit and half returning to Lee College after HS. The Lee/Goose Creek partnership has prioritized broadening college access and ensuring all students leave high school on a path that will enable them to earn family-sustain wages. As a partnership they have implemented various strategies to support this on a large scale\, including shared advising\, multiple measures placement\, support for teacher credentialing\, and dual credit embedded into high school career academies and CTE programs of study. In this webinar\, attendees will hear directly from Lee/Goose Creek leaders how they’ve developed an effective partnership\, as well as how their work exemplifies emerging findings from the Community College Research Center at Columbia University in studying how college and K12 partnership are extending ‘guided pathways’ reforms to high school to broaden the benefits of dual enrollment. \n \n Watch Now
