SUMMARY:OER in Dual and Concurrent Enrollment Programs: Current Practice and Best Practice
DESCRIPTION:Open educational resources\, or OERs\, are openly licensed digital and other resources including college textbooks\, that are often available at little to no cost. In the present confluence of an economic downturn\, remote instruction\, and a clear need for more equitable student participation in dual and concurrent enrollment offerings\, OERs present a potential game-changer to ensure the availability of quality digital textbooks at little to no cost to families\, districts or postsecondary institutions. This webinar will present early findings from a current study funded by the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) and the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) to examine current use of OERs in dual and concurrent enrollment courses\, and best practices and lessons learned from states and dual enrollment partnerships pioneering these efforts.\n  \n View Recording

SUMMARY:Equity in Focus: State Reporting on Concurrent and Dual Enrollment
DESCRIPTION:Members-Only Webinar\nPresented by: \nAmy Hubbard- Executive Director\, Early College\, University of Maine System\nTari Lambert- Director\, Transfer Indiana\nMichael Vente- Director of Research\, Colorado Department of Higher Education \nDual and concurrent enrollment continues to grow in popularity and reach across the nation. Despite this\, nationally there is a lack of timely\, accurate\, and functional disaggregated data on student participation and outcomes. This missed opportunity to tell the national story of programs creates lingering questions about access\, impact\, and equity in these critical programs. Several states have worked to fill this void by establishing consistent state-level reporting.\nJoin us to hear from panelists from three states as they discuss how their data aids them in making the case for these programs and helps to support and advance these programs as key components of statewide educational initiatives.\n Register Now

SUMMARY:Initial Course-Specific Training For Concurrent Enrollment Instructors: Pandemic Pivots to New Program Practice
DESCRIPTION:At the heart of the NACEP Accreditation Standards is a belief that college faculty play an integral role in ensuring parity in concurrent enrollment course content\, assessments\, and expectations. NACEP’s 16 standards in six categories serve to ensure the post-secondary institution offers the same college course in the high school as is offered on the campus and provides sufficient academic and program oversight to ensure course integrity. Integral to this process are the Faculty Standards which address the selection\, preparation\, and support of Concurrent Enrollment Instructors (CEIs). \nOnboarding new CEIs through “course-specific training” is central to NACEP’s F2 Faculty Standard\, which focuses on initial instructor training. This approach orients CEIs to the important building blocks of the course they are preparing to teach and provides a foundation for the student learning and achievement that will take place in the classroom. It also serves as a first step in establishing a collaborative\, ongoing partnership between the CEI and the Faculty Liaison (FL). \nSo\, how should FLs go about ensuring they provide new CEI’s with sufficient training on all the aspects of the course to be taught\, while also building rapport? This brief provides a blueprint and resources to answer that question with the goal of helping FLs create course-specific training that is useful\, meaningful\, and supportive. \n Recording Available for Members Here

SUMMARY:Dual Enrollment in Perkins V State Plans
DESCRIPTION:Historically\, many states and institutions have leveraged funds from the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act to help support efforts to ensure equitable early access to college courses for high school students. The most recent reauthorization in 2018 (known as Perkins V) offered states new flexibility to increase their investment in dual and concurrent enrollment as an important part of a high-quality program of study. Do expanded provisions and new flexibilities increase states’ utilization of this critical student success strategy?\nJoin Kate Kramer\, Deputy Executive Director at Advance CTE\, and Amy Williams\, NACEP’s Executive Director\, to explore findings from the recently released Advance CTE resource “The State of Career Technical Education: An Analysis of States’ Perkins V Priorities.”\n Register and View Recording Now

SUMMARY:Learn How Online Learning Platforms Can Help Facilitate NACEP Accreditation\, Presented by Pearson
DESCRIPTION:Now more than ever schools are turning to online learning\, so why not utilize online learning platforms to help your program with accreditation?NACEP accreditation recognizes programs that have consistently met or exceeded rigorous\, peer-reviewed standards in six areas: Partnership\, Curriculum\, Faculty\, Students\, Assessment\, and Program Evaluation. Becoming a NACEP accredited program requires the submission of a variety of evidence documenting practices\, policies\, and procedures that meet or exceed NACEP’s Standards. Online learning platforms\, like those offered by Pearson\, can be an important ally in working towards accreditation as they can help ensure tight alignment with curriculum\, and aid in providing related professional development\, data-driven decision-making\, and affordable alternative laboratory and hands-on experiences.\nWith the uncertainty of COVID-19 weighing heavily on instructors and programs\, these same online tools can be the foundation of a solid back-up plan for online and remote learning that has academics integrated with realistic experiences.\nJoin us for a discussion on how schools and districts can enhance their NACEP accreditation preparation while also supporting current and future needs for online and remote learning.\n Register Now

SUMMARY:Using Banner for Concurrent Enrollment Registration
DESCRIPTION:Idaho State University has been utilizing Ellucian Banner since 2010 for admissions and registration purposes for their concurrent enrollment students. In 2017\, they started using this process for dual enrollment students coming to campus to take courses. The entire process will be discussed from both the student and administrative side from application to registration. Being able to utilize our own institutional planning system gives high school students the knowledge they need for registering for classes online\, as well as completing a college application. Additionally\, this is a zero cost to the program. There will be time left for discussion and questions.\n Register Now

SUMMARY:Being Prepared to go Digital for Dual Enrollment Courses
DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 has created so much uncertainty for schools\, who are now determining their Fall back-to-school strategy. Will they return to the classroom or continue with online learning? Being prepared with digital course materials allows for flexible planning.\nWhen it comes to dual enrollment programs\, ensuring students have their required course materials is often a challenge. By providing digital course materials\, this process can be streamlined while providing students access to materials on day one\, regardless of where they are taking the course(s).\nJoin this session to learn how Houston Independent School District partnered with VitalSource to ensure their dual enrollment students have the required course materials before the first day of class\, increasing the likelihood of success and also saving the students roughly 50% off the retail price. This prepares them for whatever direction their district takes in the Fall.\nUnique Aspects\nTo our knowledge\, no one is providing tools built specifically to address the course materials management issues that are found in the cross over between HS and college that DE programs pose.\nExpected Outcomes \nIdentify the course materials challenge encountered by dual enrollment programs\, especially in the COVID19 learning environment.\nEvaluate the benefits of providing digital materials to students.\nConsider how the challenges HISD was facing around course materials apply to your program.\nLearn how HISD addressed those issues.\nUnderstand who VitalSource is and how they help dual enrollment programs \n \n \n Register Now
