This month NACEP highlights Jeanne Guerrero, Program Director in the Office of Admissions for the University of Louisville. Jeanne was invaluable in helping the staff of NACEP with the 2016 National Conference.
Jeanne helped with a lot of the logistics of the conference this past year, including arranging for the University to host a strategic planning retreat for the NACEP Board of Directors. She arranged a site visit to Central High School for conference attendees, and helped with the logistics of the inaugural convening of the 44 colleges and universities selected to participate in the U.S. Department of Education's Dual Enrollment Pell Experimental Sites initiative.
“I first started volunteering with NACEP when I offered to host the first Kentucky statewide meeting at the University of Louisville. This meeting gave dual credit coordinators a chance to share ideas and best practices. It was also an opportunity for us to discuss other events taking place across the state,” Jeanne recalled.
Jeanne said she has attended the NACEP national conference for three years and this past year was the second one she helped out as a volunteer. The first year as a volunteer she hosted Kentucky’s first statewide meeting of dual credit coordinators and other interested college and university representatives to discuss the upcoming NACEP conference and also talk about accreditation issues.
“This past year has been my best memory of NACEP,” said Jeanne, “After attending the conference for the past three years, I’ve finally gotten to meet enough people that I felt like I was seeing old friends again. This year, just like others, I enjoyed attending the sessions and left the conference feeling re-energized with fresh thoughts and ideas for my dual enrollment toolkit,” shared Jeanne.
