Discover College is Proud to Recognize Model Student Tyler Ward
At Owensboro Community and Technical College in Owensboro, Kentucky, high school students can get a head start on college through its concurrent enrollment program within the Discover College.
This academic year, Tyler Ward, a senior at Apollo High School (Owensboro, Kentucky) stands out as a model concurrent enrollment student who deserves to be recognized for his college preparation and hard work. Tyler is a Kentucky Governor’s Scholar with plans to transfer the 15 credit hours he is earning through the Discover College Concurrent Enrollment Program to the University of Kentucky.
Tyler selected the Discover College Concurrent Enrollment Program over other college credit options available at his school because he wanted to take “actual college courses” that would result in credit on a college transcript. It was also important to Tyler to have a quality experience to prepare him for transferring to a large university.
Tyler’s college work this year has focused on College Algebra, English, and Public Speaking. Tyler notes, “It is totally worth it to take college courses through Discover College while in high school. You get a head start on going to college, you get to knock out credits towards your degree, and most importantly, you get prepared for college because the concurrent enrollment teachers push you-just like college.”
Tyler is one of 678 student success stories made possible this year through the great work of college faculty and staff, local high school partners, and students ready to get a jump-start on their college path at Owensboro Community and Technical College.
