Highlight Your Concurrent or Dual Enrollment Program at the 2019 NACEP National Conference
The time to submit a proposal for the 2019 NACEP conference has passed. The Conference will be held on October 14-15, 2019. Breakout sessions, which will form the core of the conference schedule, are focused on effective practices, innovations, research, and policy in concurrent and enrollment that attendees can implement in their programs and institutions. In support of our strategic plan, NACEP encourages presentations on all models of concurrent and dual enrollment - especially those that align with NACEP's vision where all high school students will be prepared for, have access to, and succeed in quality college courses.
The National Conference Planning Committee is specifically soliciting presentations that focus on the following aspects of concurrent and dual enrollment programs:
- Research, Evaluation and Data
- Guided Pathways
- Career and Technical Education
- Equity and Access
- Advising, Student Success and Engagement
Guidelines for Successful Proposals
We are looking for sessions that share one of the unique aspects of your program and go beyond just a program description or a Concurrent or Dual Enrollment 101 lecture. A successful session will:
- Share demonstrated best practices, programs with evidence of success, and applicable takeaways
- Involve participants in identifying trends and hot topics
- Connect secondary and postsecondary practitioners to deepen partnerships
- Energize attendees to implement new practices that overcome specific challenges
With the year's conference theme on Elevating Partnerships: 20 Years Strong, the Committee also seeks presentations on new or innovative programs, backwards outreach, social and emotional learning, and discipline focused sessions. The Conference Planning Committee is particularly interested in proposals from high school principals, counselors and school district leaders.
In some cases, if proposals are similar topics, you might be asked to join a panel with other presenters, and panel members will have lead time to coordinate their presentations.
Information for presenters
- Sessions will take place on Monday, October 14 and Tuesday, October 15. Breakout Sessions will be 45 minutes in length. Big Idea Sessions will be 60 minutes in length. Mini-workshops will be 75 minutes in length.
- Breakout Sessions are intended for an audience of approximately 50-100 people, with no more than three speakers. These informative sessions make up the core of conference offerings.
- Big Idea Sessions are intended for an audience of 70-150, with no more than six speakers. They present multiple perspectives about a single topic. Presenters should represent different functions within a college or offer perspectives from different organizations and have unique points of view about the selected topic.
- Mini-workshops are the newest addition. Proposals for this select group much be explicit about the activities in which attendees will engage, the apportionment of time and major takeaways.
- Presenters are responsible for all conference-related expenses including registration, travel, lodging, and meals.
- All session proposals must be submitted using the online submission form. The deadline to submit is Friday, March 8, 2019. Proposals in other formats will not be considered.
- We will begin notifying applicants the week of June 10 by email. Proposals will be selected by the Proposal Review Team based on the timeliness and appropriateness of the topic, presenter expertise, alignment with NACEP's mission and the conference priorities.
- All contact between the lead presenters (who is expected to communicate with all other co-presenters) and NACEP will be through email.
