Building a Talent Pipeline and an innovative Career Mapping Tool (Members Only Webinar)
May 25, 2017 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
We hope you will join us as we explore a model that takes a new career focused look at what education can be providing students. The Idaho PTECH Network (Idaho Pathways to Early Careers) bridges the gap between Idaho employers and Idaho’s youth. PTECH works with high growth, high value Idaho companies to create a talent pipeline to well-paying, fulfilling careers. We work with students across Idaho, predominantly in rural areas, and utilize a custom career mapping tool to assist them in learning about their strengths, career interests and what kind of futures are available to them. PTECH connects students with industry through field trips, conferences and experiential learning, and an online platform. Students have access to dual enrollment + employability skills + curated industry-driven training to prepare students for jobs within 1-2 years of graduating high school. As students engage more with PTECH, they self-identify whether a supported PTECH pathway is right for them and apply for support for the appropriate training and credentials, and are provided support all the way to employment. Current PTECH supported pathways include healthcare, technology, aerospace and advanced manufacturing industries.
Hear about lessons that we’ve learned over the past three years as we have moved from early college for all to early career for the right student. Topics will include:
- Who is our “customer?”
- Working with partner schools to promote career exploration and planning
- How employment gaps and industry requirements inform the PTECH program
- How remote coaching aids students in their journey toward a job
- Adapting quickly and efficiently based on data and stakeholder feedback
