The Winter Accreditation Institute held in Everett, Washington February 22 was sold out! Over 120 people attended the event. Tim
Stetter and Emily Edmiston from the University of Washington gave a presentation on the journal in program improvement. Jennie Patteson, NACEP Director of Accreditation and Member Services, gave the history of accreditation and networking.
Jaclyn Dumond from Southern Indiana University and Lynn Burbank, formerly of the University of Minnesota discussed how to successfully build an exemplary accreditation application. Attendees got advice on how to navigate the peer review process.
The group heard what the process look like from the eyes of a peer reviewer. In the afternoon, breakouts on student and assessment, program description and evaluation and faculty and curriculum were presented.
“I felt that NACEP leadership did a good job of setting the tone for why we need quality standards,” said one attendee.
Another person commented, “The training materials were a big help to see actual examples of the evidence required. The Institute was a good start to our process.”
